Curbside Trash & Recycling

Townsend's Curbside Trash and Recycling Program is available to all residents in a single family home, 2-family and 3-family homes. It is not available for businesses or condominium and apartment complexes with over four (4) residences. Recycling is mandatory for all residents, schools and businesses per Townsend Code 102.3.
 
  • The trash limit is two (2) 32-gallon bags/barrels February 1, 2015, not to exceed 64gallons. 
  • 96 gallon toter are not acceptable at the curb for your trash
Overflow bags are available at $3.50/bag in a package of 5 at the following locations
 
  • Memorial Town Hall, Board of Health, 272 Main Street
  • McNabb's Pharmacy
  • Hannaford's Supermarket, Main Street, Townsend, MA 
As always, recycling is limitless and does NOT have to be separated. STICKERS ARE IN and available at the Town Hall for any bin you choose for your recycling free of chargeNO Plastic bags or Styrofoam. Plastic bags can be taken back to the supermarket.
 
Please also remember that there are two trucks that will be collecting; a trash truck and a recycling truck. The recycling truck should arrive shortly after the trash truck.
 

Starting July 1st 2015 recycling is weekly and remains limitless and no separating! No more schedules! Put your trash and recycling out every week. If you have any questions, please contact G.W. Shaw's directly at 800-649-7419.
