PLANNING  BOARD  VACANCY

The Town of Townsend Planning Board is looking for a motivated resident to serve as the Associate Member. The Associate Member is called upon by the Chairman to act upon special permit applications in the case of absence, inability to act, or conflict of interest on the part of any member of the Board at the public hearing or in the event of a vacancy on the Board. The Associate Member is appointed annually at a joint meeting of the Planning Board and Board of Selectmen by majority vote of the members present.

The Planning Board is responsible for hearing and approving subdivisions, site plan review special permits, “Approval Not Required” (ANR) lots, and applications under the “Scenic Roads Act.”  The Board also serves as the Stormwater Authority, is in charge of updating the Town’s Master Plan, and makes decisions and recommendations required by the Town’s Zoning By-laws and the state Zoning Act in regard to zoning amendments and re-zoning petitions.

The Planning Board normally meets remotely at 6:30 pm, on the 2nd and 4th Monday’s each month, via Townsend Community Access Media (TCAM) Hosted Zoom meetings.  (Until further notice).
